Wellness Coaching is a motivational, team approach between a coach and client to recognize the clients’ skills and dreams, focus on life's goals, and to move past challenges that stand in the way of those goals.
The goal of wellness coaching is to help you make changes in your life and take control of your health and wellness. The changes you make are totally up to you. The coach will guide you along the way by providing strategies to achieve your goals. After an initial face-to-face meeting (50-60 minutes) wellness coaching can happen via e-mail, over the phone, or continue face-to-face. Follow-up sessions are approximately 20-30 minutes in length. This is a free service offered to full-time employees. You are allocated up to three face-to-face sessions per academic year. Additional email and phone sessions are determined between you and your coach.
Wellness coaching is team effort with a certified wellness coach and client to help the client meet goals for optimal wellness. Wellness coaches have a variety of educational backgrounds. A coach works with you to brainstorm and set personal goals. It's a team approach, and the client will be responsible for ownership to reach these goals.
Wellness coaches work with individuals or groups who want to make changes in their lifestyle to optimize their health and well-being.
A coach helps hold individuals accountable for meeting their goals. Upon initial meeting, clients can set weekly, monthly, and three month goals to achieve with the assistance of the coach.
Coaches receive training from nationally credentialed organizations. The coaches also hold a degree in health, wellness, medical, or psychology-related field.
Coaches are trained higher-educational professionals that have multiple years of experience working with faculty, staff and students.
You receive three in-person sessions per academic year with a Wellness Coach. Additional email and phone sessions are determined between you and your coach.
The initial meeting may take a maximum of one-hour. The following meetings are an average of 20-30 minutes in length.
Coaches can meet in-person, by email, or telephone for the coaching session. We ask that the initial session be in-person, then others can be based on the needs of the client and coaches schedule.
